Homemade Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

Homemade Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

Serving : 5-6 persons

Prep Time : 20 minutes

Cook Time : 20 minutes

Total Time : 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups sabudana (sago)

  • 1/2 cup peanuts

  • 2 boiled potatoes cut into small cubes

  • 1 inch ginger chopped finely

  • 2 green chillies chopped finely

  • 2-3 strings chopped curry leaves

  • 4 tbsp ghee / oil

  • 1 tsp jeera ( cumin seeds )

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tbsp pepper powder

  • salt as per taste

  • 1/2 lemon

  • some chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  1. In a sieve wash the sabudana till all the powder comes out . Spread it on a plate and soak it in 3 cups water overnight or for 4-6 hours so that it swells and becomes soft.

  2. Dry roast the peanuts and remove the skin. In a grinder grind it roughly in pulse mode.

  3. Add the pepper powder, salt, sugar, lemon juice and peanuts in the sabudana and mix well.

  4. Heat the ghee in a kadai and add the jeera when it splutters add the chopped ginger, curry leaves , green chillies and boiled potatoes. Cook for 2-3 minutes then add the sabudana and give it a good stir. Cover and cook on low flame stirring at intervals for 5-10 minutes till the sabudana pearls are translucent.

  5. Remove in a serving dish and garnish with chopped corainder leaves.

Enjoy this yummy sabudana khichdi which is perfect to be eaten also during vrat or fast.
