Homemade Rajma ( Red Kidney ) Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups Rajma ( Red Kidney Bean)
2 onions chopped finely
5 tomatoes chopped finely
1 green chilli chopped finely
1/2 tbsp ginger chopped finely
1/2 tbsp garlic chopped finely
2-3 pinch asafoetida
1 tsp jeera powder (cumin powder)
1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tbsp garam masala
salt as per taste
coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
Clean ,wash and soak rajma in water for 5-6 hours or overnight.
Heat 3-4 tbsp oil in a pressure cooker, add asafoetida, garlic, ginger and saute for few seconds.
Add chopped onions and green chilli and cook till it is soft.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook till oil leaves the sides.
Add all the dry spices leaving out the garam masala. Saute the masala for a minute on low flame.
Drain the water from the rajma and add it to the masala with 5-6 cups of water.
Close the cooker and cook on medium flame for 10-15 minutes.
After 10-15 minutes open the cooker , add the garam masala and water if required.
Cook again for a minute or two.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves .
Serve this delicious rajma with rice.
