Homemade Red Chawli Curry Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup red chawli / red eyed beans
2 chopped onions
3 chopped tomatoes
1 chopped green chilli
1 tsp chopped ginger
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp jeera powder/cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala
salt as per taste
some chopped coriander leaves
Method:
Clean, wash and then soak the chawli in some water overnight or for 6-7 hours.
After the soaking time drain out all the water from the chawli and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp oil then add the jeera when it splutters saute the ginger then add the turmeric powder, chopped onions and green chilli. Cook on low to medium flame till the onions are translucent or pinkish in colour. To it add the chopped tomatoes and cook till drops of oil are seen on the top or sides of the cooker.
To the onion tomato masala add all the dry spices and salt then saute for 1-2 minutes. Add the chawli and 4 cups water. Give it a good mix. Close the cooker and cook for 10 minutes on medium flame.
Once the pressure is released open the cooker. Mix well and if required some water can be added.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with some coriander leaves.
Serve this yummy curry with rice, chapati or paratha.
