Homemade Dahi Wala Paneer Recipe

Ingredients for Marination:
500 gms fresh paneer
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp salt
Ingredients for Gravy:
1.5 cups fresh curds/ yogurt
1/2 cup cashewnuts
1 tsp whole peppers
1 no big onion chopped into big cubes
1 inch ginger chopped into big pieces
1 no green chilli chopped into big pieces
1 tbsp chopped garlic
1 no black cardamon
3-4 nos cloves
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder
1.5 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves /kasuri methi
salt as per taste
some chopped coriander leaves
Method:
Cut the paneer into 1 inch square pieces. Add the turmeric, chilli powder and salt in the oil and then smear each paneer on both sides with the paste. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
Soak the cashewnuts in warm water for 15-20 minutes.
In a grinder jar add the curds, whole pepper, chopped onion, ginger green chilli and soaked cashewnuts and then grind into a fine paste.
Heat a pan then place each paneer piece on it and cook on both sides on medium to low flame till slightly brown in colou. Remove in a plate and keep aside for future use.
In a kadai heat 2 tbsp ghee and add the cardamon and cloves then the curds mixture. Cook on low to medium flame stirring occasionally till drops on ghee is seen on the sides of the vessel. Add all the spices , salt , kasuri methi half cup water and the cooked paneer pieces. Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Remove in a serving dish and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.
Enjoy this yummy paneer with rice, paratha or chapati.
