Homemade Masala Dosa Balls Recipe

Course : Breakfast / Snack

Cuisine: Indian

Servings: 9 nos

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time : 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup thick dosa batter

  • 3 nos boiled potatoes/aloo

  • 1 no medium onion sliced finely

  • 2 nos chopped green chillies

  • 1 string chopped curry leaves

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • 1/4 tsp asefodita

  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes in a microwave or pressure cooker. Remove and allow them to cool .Then peel and mash them.Keep aside for future use.

  2. In a pan or kadai heat 2 tbsp oil then add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the asefodita, curry leaves and sliced onions. Saute the onions till pinkish in colour. Then add all the spices, salt and 1/4 cup water. Cook till the water dries then add the mashed potatoes and let it cook for 2 minutes. Remove in a plate and allow it to cool.

  3. Make lemon size balls of the masala and keep aside.

  4. Heat an appe pan .Switch off the gas then add 2 drops of oil in each mould and pour 1-2 small spoons of the dosa batter in each mould then place one potato ball in each mould and pour again 1-2 spoons of the dosa batter on the top of each masala balls .Sprinkle some oil on each of them. Switch on the gas then cover and cook on low flame till brown in colour. Open the cover and flip each dosa balls. Cover again and cook till brown on the other side also.

  5. Remove all the dosa balls on a plate and serve with green chutney.
