Homemade Sabut Moong Dal Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup sabut (whole ) moong
2 small chopped tomatoes
1 chopped green chilli
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1/4 tsp asefodita
1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds )
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
salt as per taste
some chopped coriander leaves
Method:
Clean and wash the sabut / whole moong then soak it in some water for 3-4 hours. Drain the water. Keep the moong aside for future use.
In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp oil then add the jeera when it splutters add the asefodita and saute the chopped ginger for a second. Add the tomatoes with the green chilli and cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy. To it add the salt and all the dry spices and give it a good stir. Then add the moong along with 2 cups water.
Close the cooker and cook up to 2 whistles.
Once the pressure is released open the cooker. Stir and if the dal consistency is too thick a little hot water can be added to it.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.
