Homemade Masoor Dal Tadka Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup whole masoor
1/2 cup masoor dal ( orange )
4 tomatoes chopped finely
2 green chillies chopped finely
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1-2 pinch asafoetida
1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
3/4 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp jeera (cumin ) powder
salt to taste
coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
Clean, wash and soak the dals for half an hour together in a vessel with 4-5 cups of water.
In a pressure cooker add the soaked dals along with the water, tomatoes, turmeric and salt. Cook for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
Once the pressure is released open the cooker and mix the dals, if required water can be added.
Take a small pan for the tadka, heat 1-2 tbsp ghee add the asafoetida then the jeera when it splutters add the chopped ginger, green chillies,coriander, jeera powder and lastly red chilli powder.
Pour the tadka in the dal and cover it.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve with rice or chapatis.
