Homemade Methi, Matar (Peas) with Paneer Pulav Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice
1 cup methi leaves (fenugreek leaves)
2 cups matar (Peas) frozen
2 cups paneer cubes ( cottage cheese)
2 big onions cut long
1/2 tbsp chopped garlic
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1 green chill chopped
1/2 tbsp red chili powder
1/2 tbsp garam masala
1 tsp shahi jeera
1/4 cup oil
salt as per taste
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick
4-5 black peppers
3-4 cloves
Method:
Clean, wash and soak the rice for half an hour. Boil the rice with 1 tsp salt, drain the extra water and keep it aside.
Clean, wash, dry pat the methi leaves and cut it finely.
In a heavy based vessel heat 1/4 cup oil add shahi jeera , bay leaf , cinnamon, pepper and clove, then saute the garlic, ginger and green chili in the oil for a second. Then add the onions and cook till it is translucent. Once the onion is done add all the dry spices along with the peas, paneer and cook for 5 minutes then add the methi leaves. Mix well , lastly add the boiled rice and mix lightly so that that the rice does not break.
Remove in a serving bowl.
Serve this delicious pulav with curds, pickle and papad
Alternatively it can also be made in the pressure cooker within 15-20 minutes.
