Homemade Hyderabadi Mirchi Ka Salan Recipe
Ingredients:
4-5 big fat green chilies
1 tbsp white til (sesame seeds)
1/2 cup roasted peanuts without skin
1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp rai (mustard seeds)
1 tbsp amchur powder ( mango powder ) mixed in 1/4 cup of water
salt to taste
1 big onion made into paste
few curry leaves
some chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
Wash and deseed the green chilis . Cut into half if the chilis are too big.
In a grinder make a paste of til, peanuts, jeera , coriander and chili powder. Keep aside.
In a pan heat 3-4 tbsp oil, fry the chilis on low flame on all the sides till it is tender , do not over cook it. Remove from pan and keep it aside.
In the same oil, add the mustard seeds and curry leaves when the mustard seeds splutter add the onion paste cook till it is slightly brown in colour. Then add the masala paste, amchur paste and salt . Cook for another 2-3 minutes. If the gravy is too thick add some water and cook again. When oil starts leaving from the sides remove it from the flame.
In a serving dish place all the fried chilies then pour the hot gravy over it. Garnish with coriander leaves .
Enjoy this yummy mirchi ka salan with chapatis or rice.
