Homemade Bisi Bele Bath Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice

  • 1/2 cup tur dal

  • 2 onions chopped into small cubes

  • 1 big carrot cut into cubes

  • 1 cup french beans cut into cubes

  • 1 cup green peas fresh or frozen

  • 1 green chilli chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped ginger

  • 2 string curry leaves

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 3/4 tbsp amchur (mango powder)

  • 3-4 tbsp bisi bele masala ( MTR brand)

  • salt as per taste

  • coriander leaves chopped finely for garnishing

Method:

  1. Clean,wash and soak the rice and dal together for about 30 minutes.

  2. Take a pressure cooker, heat 2-3 tbsp ghee add the mustard seeds when it splutters add green chilli, ginger and curry leaves, saute for a second then add the onions.

  3. Once the onions are soft add the chopped beans, carrots and peas, saute for 3-4 minutes then add the salt , bisi bele masala and mango powder.

  4. Remove the water from the rice and dal and keep it aside to use later. Add the soaked rice and dal to the vegetables.

  5. Mix lightly and add 4 cups of water to it

  6. Close the cooker and cook upto 3-4 whistles.

  7. Remove in a serving dish and garnish with coriander leaves.

    Serve this yummy bisi bele bath with yogurt and papad.
