Clean, wash and soak the bajra in sufficient water for 5-6 hours or overnight preferably.
Drain out all the water from the bajra. Take a grinder jar and grind the bajra in pulse mode only till the bajra is broken into small pieces or becomes a little white powdery. Do not make it into a fine paste.
Clean and wash the dal and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker heat 3 tbsp ghee then add the jeera when it splutters add the asefodita, ginger, turmeric powder then add the chopped potatoes , peas and green chill saute for 2-3 minutes. Then add the bajra, dal and salt and give it a good mix.
Add 8 cups water. Mix well and then close the cooker.
After one whistle make the flame on low and cook for 10 minutes.
Open the cooker only once the pressure is completely released.
Mix the khichdi well and if needed a little hot water can be added to get the right consistency
Serve this yummy healthy khichdi with a big drop of ghee, some pickle and papad.
Note: Instead of yellow moong dal you can also use moong chilkawali dal. Veggies like carrot, beans and cauliflower can also be added.
