Homemade Dal Khichdi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice

  • 1 cup moong chilkawali

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • salt as per taste

For Tadka:

  • 2 green chillies chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic chopped finely

  • a pinch of asefodita

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin) seeds

  • 1 whole red chilli

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice and dal together in 4 cups water for half an hour.

  2. In a pressure cooker add the rice and dal with the water, salt and turmeric.

  3. Mix well, close the cooker and cook till 3 whistles.

  4. Once the pressure is released open the cooker and add water only if required.

  5. For the tadka take a pan heat 2-3 tbsp ghee add the asefodita and jeera when it splutters add the whole chilli, chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies . Pour this tadka on the khichdi.

    Serve this healthy and tasty khichdi hot with yogurt and pickle.
