Homemade Oats Upma Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups white oats (Quaker or any other brand)
2 small onions chopped finely
1 carrot chopped finely
1 tsp chopped green chilli
1 tsp chopped ginger
2-3 strings chopped curry leaves
2 tbsp washed and soaked urad dal
1 tsp mustard seed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt as per taste
some chopped coriander leaves
Method:
In a pan dry roast the oats till light golden brown in colour.Remove and keep aside.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds when it splutters put urad dal after removing the water from it. Saute for a minute then add the curry leaves, ginger, chilli and onions.
Cook he onions till it is translucent then add the carrot. Cook till soft.
Add the oats with 2 cups water. Cover and cook till the oats are soft and the water dries.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
Note: vegetables like french beans and peas can also be added to the oats upma.
