Homemade Dalia ( broken wheat) Upma Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 and half cup Dalia small ( broken wheat)

  • 1 carrot cut into cubes

  • 1 cup french beans cut into cubes

  • 2 onions chopped finely

  • 1 cup peas ( frozen or fresh)

  • 2 cups paneer ( frozen or fresh)

  • 1 bunch spinach chopped finely

  • 1 green chill chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • salt as per taste

  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the dalia in one cup water.

  2. In a cooking pan heat 2-3 tbsp oil , add cumin seeds when it splutters, add the chopped green chilli, ginger and onions. Saute for 2-3 minutes till the onions are cooked.

  3. Add the chopped carrot, french beans and peas.Cover and cook till the vegetables are soft but crunchy.

  4. Add the paneer with the chilli powder and salt. Saute for a minute or two.

  5. Then add the soaked dalia along with two cups of water and cook on slow flame till all the water dries.

  6. Lastly add the chopped spinach and lemon juice, mix well.

  7. Remove in a serving dish.

    Serve hot with pickle and papad .
