Homemade Yam ( Suran ) Keema Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500 gms suran (yam)

  • 3 onions chopped finely

  • 2 tomatoes chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger chopped finely

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic chopped finely

  • 1-2 green chillies chopped finely

  • coriander leaves for garnishing

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp jeera (cumin ) powder

  • 2 -3 tsp keema powder (optional)

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Peel, wash and chop the yam in a chopper.

  2. Take a pan heat 3-4 tbsp oil then add the chopped ginger and garlic sauté for a few seconds . Add the onions and cook till it is pinkish in color.

  3. Add the chopped tomatoes when half cooked add all the above dry spices and cook till the masala leaves the sides.

  4. Add the chopped yam with two cups water.

  5. Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes till the yam is soft and the water dries.

  6. Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves .

    Serve this delicious keema with Homemade Pav.

    Note: In look and taste Yam Keema is to vegetarians what mutton or chicken keema is to non vegetarians.
