Homemade Wheat Flour Mathri Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups wheat flour

  • 1/4 cup oil or ghee

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)

  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)

  • 1 tsp whole pepper roughly grinded

  • salt to taste

  • oil for frying

Method:

  1. In a bowl mix the jeera, ajwain, pepper and salt to the wheat flour.

  2. Rub the oil/ ghee in the wheat flour till it looks like bread crumbs.

  3. Make a stiff dough by adding water little by little as required. Keep it to rest for 30 minutes.

  4. Heat oil in a kadai or heavy based bottom vessel.

  5. Make small equal size smooth balls of the dough and roll it into round shape puris.If the edges are not even you can cut it with a round cutter or with a sharp edge katori.

  6. Prick all the mathri using a fork to prevent them from puffing.

  7. Fry all the mathris on medium to low flame till golden brown in colour.

  8. Repeat the process till all the dough is used up.

  9. Once it is cooled store it in an airtight container.

    Enjoy these crunchy mathris also called salted crackers with tea .
