Homemade Veggie Burger Recipe
Ingredients for Patties :
250 gms aloo (potatoes)
250 gms french beans
250 gms carrots
250 gms frozen/fresh peas
2-3 tbsp rice flour
2 tbsp onion powder or 2nos finely chopped onions
1/2 tbsp garlic powder or 1 tbsp chopped garlic
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp amchur powder ( mango powder)
salt as per taste
some bread crumbs for coating
oil for shallow frying
Ingredients for Assembling:
12 burger buns
6-7 lettuce leaves
1-2 onions sliced into rings
1-2 tomatoes cut into thin round slices
1-2 any colour capsicum cut into round rings
1-2 cucumber cut into round or long slices
1 cup chilli/ plain mayonnaise
12 cheese slices (optional)
salt & pepper
Method:
Clean, wash and chop all the vegetables into small cubes. In a steamer or vessel steam all the veggies for 5-10 minutes till they are soft. Remove the veggies and allow it to cool.
Heat 3-4 tbsp oil in a pan add the turmeric powder then all the veggies. Saute for 5 minutes, add all the spices, salt, garlic and onion powder. Mix well and again cook on low flame for 5-10 minutes. Mash lightly with a masher . Remove from flame and allow it to cool.
Mix the rice flour and roll into small thick round patties/ cutlets . Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
Remove from fridge then roll into bread crumbs. In a non stick pan heat some oil and one by one shallow fry all the patties. Remove on a tissue towel and keep aside.
Take a burger bun, cut into half, spread mayonnaise on both sides of the bun. Take the base of the bun and on it place a lettuce leaf, then a onion ring, capsicum, tomato slice, cucumber slice then sprinkle some salt and pepper and top it with a patty. Cover it with a cheese slice and then close it with other side of the bun.
Serve with some french fries.
