Homemade Veg Manchurian Recipe

Ingredients for Manchurian Balls:

  • 250 gms grated cabbage

  • 1 small grated carrot

  • 1/2 tbsp celery chopped finely (optional)

  • 1 tsp ginger chopped finely

  • 1 tsp garlic chopped finely

  • 1 green chilli chopped finely

  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

  • salt as per taste

  • 1/2 tbsp soya sauce

  • 2-3 tbsp corn flour

  • oil for frying

Method:

  1. Squeeze the above grated vegetables and remove the excess water from it.

  2. In a bowl take the squeezed grated vegetables, salt, pepper, soya sauce, ginger, garlic, chilli, celery and corn flour.

  3. Bind all the above ingredients together and make into balls.

  4. Take an appe pan sprinkle a drop or two of oil place the manchurian balls in it .Cover and cook till brown on both sides as seen in the image below. Alternatively they can be deep fried. If the balls are breaking while frying a little more corn flour can be added to it. 

Ingredients for Sauce :

  • 1 tbsp ginger chopped finely

  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped finely

  • 2 green chillies cut into slit

  • 1 tbsp celery chopped finely

  • 2 -3 tbsp dark soya sauce

  • 1 tbsp schezwan sauce

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 -2 tbsp corn flour

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped spring onions for garnishing

Method:

  1. In a pan heat oil, add garlic, ginger and green chillies, saute for few seconds.

  2. Add the ketchup, schezwan sauce, soya sauce and pepper, saute for a minute or two.

  3. Then add two cups of water. Cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Make a corn flour paste with some water and add it to the sauce, keep stirring to avoid any lumps. Cook for 5-10 minutes on low flame till the sauce thickens.

  5. In a serving bowl place the Manchurian balls and pour the hot sauce on it.

  6. Garnish with chopped spring onions and celery.

    Serve this delicious Veg Manchurian with fried rice and Hakka noodles.
