Homemade Veg Frankie Recipe

Frankie Wrap:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white flour (maida)

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • pinch of baking powder

  • salt as per taste

Method

  1. Add all the above ingredients and make a batter by adding water as required to get a flowing or dosa batter consistency.

  2. Heat a non stick pan and spread a ladle of the batter on the tawa to make a small pancake. Cook on medium to low flame by applying a little oil on both sides till brown spots are seen on the pancake. Remove from tawa and keep aside.

  3. Similarly prepare all the frankie wraps and keep it ready.

Frankie Filling:

Ingredients:

  • 8-9 potatoes boiled and mashed

  • 3-4 green chilies finely chopped

  • 1 tsp garlic finely chopped

  • 1 inch piece ginger finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp chilli powder

  • 1 tbsp chaat masala

  • 1 tsp black salt

  • salt as per taste

  • chopped coriander and mint leaves

For Garnishing:

Ingredients:

  • 1 big onion finely chopped

  • 3-4 tbsp chaat masala

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar with 3-4 green chilies finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup homemade schezwan sauce ( optional)

Method:

  1. In a pan heat some oil add the finely chopped ginger, garlic and green chilies and sauté for one second .Add the mashed potatoes to it with all the remaining ingredients and cook for 5 to 10 minutes till the masala mixes well with the potatoes.

  2. Garnish with some chopped coriander and mint leaves. Allow it to cool.

  3. Take a little potato mixture and make into long rolls.

  4. Heat a non-stick pan place a few potato rolls on it sprinkle a little oil all over it. Cook on medium to low flame till golden brown on both sides. Remove and keep for future use.

  5. Repeat the process till all the rolls are ready .

  6. Frankie filling is ready to be put in the wraps.

Final Step to make the Frankie:

  1. Take a Frankie wrap spread a tsp of schezwan sauce (optional) then place a potato roll on it. Sprinkle some chaat masala, finely chopped onions and green chilies soaked in vinegar. Place one end of the wrap over the filling and roll the wrap tightly.

  2. Repeat the process and prepare the remaining frankies.
