Homemade Vada Pav Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 potatoes

  • 4- 5 green chillies

  • 1 big piece of ginger

  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves

  • 1/2  tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • salt to taste

  • oil for frying

For the batter:

  • 2 cups besan (gram flour)

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder

  • salt as per taste

  • water as required

 For Tadka:

  • 1- 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • few curry leaves

Method:

 1.Boil and peel the potatoes then mash them into small pieces.

2. Chop the chilies and ginger into big pieces and crush them slightly. Chop the coriander leaves finely and add all of them in the potatoes along with salt , sugar and lemon juice.

3. Take a pan heat the oil for the tadka add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the turmeric powder and curry leaves.Pour the tadka on the potato mixture and mix well.

4. Make medium size round balls and keep aside.

5. Mix all the ingredients for the batter and make a semi consistency paste by adding water as required..

6.Heat oil for frying. When the oil is hot add one by one the balls rolled in the batter. Cook on medium flame till it is brown on both sides.

Repeat the process for the remaining potato balls.

7. Take a Pav cut in the center put  green chutney on one side  and red chutney on the other side. Place one vada on it and close the pav.
