Homemade Urad Dal Paratha Recipe

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup urad dal

  • 3 green chillies

  • 1 inch ginger

  • 3 cups multigrain or wheat flour

  • 5 tbsp sauf (fennel seed) coarsely grinded

  • 1 tbsp chilli powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala

  • 1/4 tsp asefodita

  • salt as per taste

  • oil for cooking

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the dal for 3-4 hours.Drain all the water from the dal after the soaking time.

  2. Take a grinder jar add the soaked dal ,green chillies and ginger .Grind into a coarse paste without adding any water.

  3. In a bowl mix all the remaining ingredients then add the grinded dal and make a semi soft dough by adding water as required. Apply some oil and make a soft smooth ball. Cover and keep to rest for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Make equal size balls of the entire dough. Take one ball , dust some flour on a rolling board and roll into a small medium size round or triangle shape disc.

  5. Heat a tawa then place the rolled paratha on it and cook on both sides applying oil till brown spots are seen on both sides.

  6. Repeat the process till all the dough balls are used up.

  7. Remove in a serving plate and serve with some curds and pickle.

Note : It can also be made with leftover urad dal.
