Homemade Sri Lankan Cabbage Mallung Recipe
Ingredients:
Cabbage leaves 250 gms ( have used home grown )
1 small onion chopped into long pieces
1/ 4 cup fresh grated coconut
1 tsp jeera ( cumin seeds )
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp jeera powder ( cumin powder )
salt as per taste
1-2 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp oil
Method:
Clean, wash and dry pat the cabbage leaves. Then chop it finely.
In a bowl first mix all the dry spices along with coconut . Then add the chopped cabbage in the bowl and mix again till the mixture becomes moist .
In a pan add the cabbage mixture and cook on high flame stirring at intervals for few seconds, then pour the oil over it and cover . Cook on low flame stirring at intervals for just 5 minutes, If it is too dry sprinkle some water so that it does not burn.
Switch off the gas and keep it covered for few seconds.
Squeeze lemon juice and mix well.
Remove in a serving dish.
Enjoy this healthy mallung with rice or chapati.
