Homemade Shahi Soya Chaap Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 5 soya chaap sticks

  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger

  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 3 onions chopped in cubes

  • 4 tomatoes chopped in cubes

  • 1/2 cup cooking cream

  • 5-6 tbsp cashewnut powder

  • 2 tbsp kasuri methi ( dried fenugreek)

  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

  • 1 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala

  • 1/2 tbsp jeera (cumin) powder

  • 1/4 tsp pepper powder

  • salt as per taste

  • 1-2 bay leaves

  • coriander leaves for garnishing

  • 2-3 pinch red food colour powder ( optional )

Method:

  1. Remove the soya chaaps from the sticks and cut them into big thick round pieces.

  2. Rub 2-3 pinch of red food color and salt on the cut soya chaaps .Keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

  3. Heat some oil in a pan and saute the cut soya chaap for 4-5 minutes.

  4. In a pan cook the onions and tomatoes with half cup water till the onions and tomatoes are soft and mushy. Let it cool then in a grinder grind it into a fine paste.

  5. In the same pan heat 2-3 tbsp oil, add the bay leaves, ginger and garlic saute for few seconds, then add the onion tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Add all the dry spices, kasuri methi, cashewnut powder and cook for 3-4 minutes, then add one cup water and allow it to boil on low flame . Add and the Soya Chaaps and cream, mix well and cook for a minute or two.

  7. Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

    Serve this yummy rich and creamy soya chaap with naan ,paratha or kulcha.
