Homemade Red Chawli Salad Recipe

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1+1/2 cups red chawli/ lobia

  • 1 small onion chopped finely

  • 1 cucumber chopped finely

  • 1 tomato chopped finely

  • 1 green chilli chopped finely

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • 2 tsp chilli powder

  • 1/2 tbsp chaat masala

  • 1 tsp roasted jeera/cumin

  • 1 tsp rock salt

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the chawli in some water for 4-5 hours or overnight.

  2. After the soaking time drain all the water . Take a pressure cooker and add all the chawli with salt and 2 cups water. Cook upto 2 whistles.

  3. Once the pressure is released open the cooker and drain out all the water if any. Do not throw away this water but use it to make dal, curry or to knead chapati/paratha dough. Keep the drained chawli aside for future use.

  4. In a bowl add all the chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, green chilli, spices, black salt and the chawli. Give it a good toss.

  5. Remove in a serving dish and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.

    Enjoy this super healthy salad.
