Homemade Raw Papaya Chutney Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 gms raw green papaya

  • 1/4 cup besan ( gram flour)

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 green chillies slit in the center

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/4 tsp asefodita

  • 1-2 strings curry leaves chopped finely

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Peel, wash and dry pat the papaya.Cut the papaya into thin slices.

  2. Take some water in a vessel with 1 tsp salt and cook the papaya on low flame till semi cooked and translucent.Drain and keep aside.

  3. In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil add the mustard seeds when it splutter add the asefodita, curry leaves, slit green chillies and turmeric powder and sauté. Then add the cooked papaya, salt and cook for a minute.Add the besan and keep stirring to avoid any lumps. Cover and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes. If it is too dry 2-3 tbsp water can be added to it.

  4. Remove in a serving dish mix the lemon juice and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.

Serve this papaya chutney with rawa dhokla, khaman dhokla or khandvi.
