Homemade Raw Banana Palya Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 raw green bananas

  • 1 big onion chopped

  • 1 tsp mustard seed

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

  • 1-2 whole red chillies

  • 2-3 strings curry leaves chopped

  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped

  • some coriander leaves chopped finely

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil preferably or any other cooking oil

  • 1/2 cup fresh grated coconut with 4 green chillies

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Peel , wash and chop the bananas into medium size cubes.

  2. In a vessel take some water with salt and boil the chopped bananas on low to medium flame till soft. Drain the water and keep the bananas aside.

  3. In a grinder jar grind the coconut and green chillies into a fine paste.

  4. Take a pan heat the oil add the mustard when it splutters add the curry leaves, whole chillies and onions . Sauté till the onions are soft add the turmeric, salt, pepper powder , bananas. and 1/2 cup water . Cover and cook on low flame stirring at intervals for 5 minutes. Mix the coconut paste and cook for a few seconds then remove from gas.

  5. Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.

Enjoy this yummy banana palya with chapati or rice.
