Homemade Pudina (Mint)Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 1 big bunch pudina (mint ) leaves chopped finely

  • 2 big onions cut finely into long

  • 1 green chili chopped

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped ginger

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin ) seeds

  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice for about half an hour.

  2. Cook the rice till is is soft. Drain all the water and keep aside.

  3. Heat 5-6 tbsp of oil in a heavy based vessel add the jeera when it splutters add the onions, green chilli and ginger

  4. Cook on low flame till the onions are soft.

  5. Add all the dry spices to the onions and then add the rice.

  6. Cook the rice for 2-3 minutes on low flame.

  7. Switch off the flame then add the chopped mint leaves to the rice and give it a good mix.

    Serve this yummy mint rice with yogurt, papad and pickle.
