Homemade Onion Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 4 -5 big onions grated

  • 3-4 green chillies chopped into big pieces

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger chopped into big pieces

  • 1 tsp shahi jeera (cumin) seeds

  • salt as per taste

  • some coriander leaves chopped for garnishing

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes.

  2. In a pressure cooker heat 1/4 cup oil, add the jeera when it splutters add ginger and green chillies, sauté for few seconds.

  3. Add the grated onions and cook on low flame till it turns golden brown.

  4. Add 2 cups water, salt and rice to it.

  5. Close the cooker and cook up to 3 whistles.

  6. Remove in a serving plate and garnish with some coriander leaves.

    Serve this yummy onion rice with yogurt and pickle.
