Homemade Nepali Chukauni Recipe

Servings: 2-3 pax

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh curds/yogurt

  • 1 small onion sliced

  • 1 boiled potato sliced

  • 1 -2 green chillies chopped finely

  • 4 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

  • 1 tsp methi/fenugreek seeds

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp jeera/cumin powder

  • salt as per taste

  • 1 tbsp mustard oil

Method:

  1. In a bowl add the curds with 1/4 cup water and whisk properly so that there are no lumps.

  2. To the mixture add the sliced onion, potato, green chillies, coriander leaves and salt. Give it a good mix.

  3. In a pan heat the mustard oil till smoke is seen coming out then switch off the flame add the methi seeds and again switch on the flame and cook till the seeds turn slightly red in colour. Switch off the flame and add the turmeric, chilli powder, coriander and jeera powder.

  4. Add this tadka to the curds mixture and mix well.

  5. Serve this delicious chukauni with rice.
