Homemade Mooli Kofta Recipe

Ingredients for Kofta:

  • 2 nos big mooli / radish with leaves

  • 1 no chopped green chilli

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tsp ajwain/carrom seeds

  • 1/4 cup besan/gram flour

  • salt as per taste

Ingredients for Gravy :

  • 2 nos roughly chopped onions

  • 3 nos roughly chopped tomatoes

  • 3 tbsp kaju / cashew

  • 1 no green chilli chopped

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tbsp chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • some chopped mooli leaves

Method:

  1. Peel , wash the mooli and then grate them . Squeeze out all the water from the grated mooli .

  2. Remove the stem from the mooli leaves. Wash them thoroughly and then chop them finely.

  3. In a bowl mix all the ingredients for the kofta and make equal size balls and keep aside.

  4. Heat an appe pan with 1/4 tsp oil in each mould . Place the kofta balls one by one in the appe mould with 1/4 tsp oil on the top of each kofta balls. Cover and cook on low flame till golden brown. Flip and turn on the other side. Cover and cook on low flame again till golden brown.

  5. Remove on a plate and keep aside. Alternatively they can be deep fried also.

  6. In a kadai add the chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilli and kaju with one cup water. Cover and cook on medium flame stirring at intervals till all the water dries and the onions and tomatoes are mushy. Allow it to cool. In a grinder jar grind the cooked onion, tomatoes and kaju into a fine paste. Sieve the paste and keep aside.

  7. Heat a kadai with 3 tbsp oil, pour the paste in it . Cook for 4-5 minutes then add all the dry spices , salt and half cup water. Cover and cook till oil is seen on the sides. Then add the chopped mooli leaves and kofta in the gravy and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  8. Remove in a serving dish and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.

Enjoy this yummy and healthy kofta with paratha, chapati or rice.
