Homemade Methi, Matar (Peas) with Paneer Pulav Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 1 cup methi leaves (fenugreek leaves)

  • 2 cups matar (Peas) frozen

  • 2 cups paneer cubes ( cottage cheese)

  • 2 big onions cut long

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped ginger

  • 1 green chill chopped

  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp shahi jeera

  • 1/4 cup oil

  • salt as per taste

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 4-5 black peppers

  • 3-4 cloves

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice for half an hour. Boil the rice with 1 tsp salt, drain the extra water and keep it aside.

  2. Clean, wash, dry pat the methi leaves and cut it finely.

  3. In a heavy based vessel heat 1/4 cup oil add shahi jeera , bay leaf , cinnamon, pepper and clove, then saute the garlic, ginger and green chili in the oil for a second. Then add the onions and cook till it is translucent. Once the onion is done add all the dry spices along with the peas, paneer and cook for 5 minutes then add the methi leaves. Mix well , lastly add the boiled rice and mix lightly so that that the rice does not break.

  4. Remove in a serving bowl.

    Serve this delicious pulav with curds, pickle and papad

Alternatively it can also be made in the pressure cooker within 15-20 minutes.
