Homemade Methi Matar Malai Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup methi (fenugreek ) leaves

  • 1 cup peas (frozen)

  • 1 cup cooking cream

  • 2 onions chopped long

  • 4 green chillies chopped into halves

  • 5-6 garlic cloves chopped into pieces

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger chopped

  • 12-14 cashewnuts

  • 1 tsp shahi jeera

  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and dry pat the methi leaves then chop it finely. Keep aside.

  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add the chopped onions ,ginger, green chillies , garlic and cashewnuts.

  3. Cook on low to medium flame till the above ingredients are soft. Allow it to cool.

  4. In a grinder grind the mixture into a fine paste.

  5. In the same pan heat 2 tbsp oil add the shahi jeera when it splutters add the onion paste and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. Then add the red chilli powder, garam masala, salt and sugar. Cook for few minutes.

  7. Add the fenugreek leaves to the paste, cook for 5 minutes stirring at intervals then add the peas.

  8. Cook for 1-2 minutes and then add one cup of water and cook.

  9. Lastly add the cream and cook for 5 minutes.If the consistency is too thick a little water can be added.

    Enjoy this yummy methi matar malai with paratha, puris or naan.
