Homemade Masoor Dal With Palak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1+1/2 cup masoor split dal ( orange dal)

  • 3 bunch palak (spinach)

  • 2 chopped tomatoes

  • 1 tsp chopped ginger

  • 1 chopped green chilli

  • 1/4 tsp asefodita

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin ) seeds

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tbsp chilli powder

  • 1/2 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin ) powder

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Method :

  1. Clean, wash and soak the dal in 4 cups water for about 30 minutes.

  2. Remove the stalk and wash the palak leaves thourghly and then chop it roughly.

  3. In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp oil add the jeera when it splutters add the asefodita then the turmeric powder, ginger, green chilli and the tomatoes. Cook on low flame till it is soft.Add the chopped palak leaves and all the remaining spices and cook for a minute or two then add the soaked dal along with the water.

  4. Close the cooker and cook the dal upto 1-2 whistles.

  5. When the pressure is released open the cooker and mix well. if required add some more water.

  6. Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve this delicious masoor dal palak with rice.
