Homemade Kodo Millet Upma Recipe

Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup kodo

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 no onion chopped finely

  • 1 tbsp chana dal

  • 1 tbsp urad dal

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp chopped ginger

  • 1 tsp chopped green chilli

  • 1 -2 string chopped curry leaves

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp ghee

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Clean and wash the kodo properly .Soak it in 2 cups water for 30 minutes.

  2. Clean and wash both the dals and soak it in some water. Keep aside for future use.

  3. Take a cooker and heat 2 tbsp ghee then add the mustard seeds when it splutters fry both the dals for 1-2 seconds.

  4. Add the chopped curry leaves , ginger , green chilli and onions and cook for a minute.

  5. Then add the kodo millet along with the water and salt . Stir and mix well .

  6. Close the cooker and cook on medium flame upto one whistle.

  7. When the pressure is released open the cooker lid. Mix the upma.

  8. Remove in a serving dish and garnish with some lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.

Enjoy this healthy millet upma for breakfast or evening snack.
