Homemade Kala Chana Pulao Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 2 cups boiled black chana

  • 3 big onions chopped into long

  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger

  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 green cardamom

  • 1 tsp shahi jeera ( cumin seeds )

  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 2 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1 tbsp jeera powder (cumin powder )

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • water left after boiling the chana

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice in 3 cups water for 30 minutes.

  2. In a pressure cooker heat 5-6 tbsp oil. Add the bay leaf, cinnamon stick and cardamom then add the garlic and ginger and sauté for a few second. Add the onions and cook on low flame till soft. then add the boiled chana and all the spices and salt. Cook for a minute or two then add the rice with the water. Mix well and close the cooker. Cook up to 3 whistles.

  3. Open the cooker once all the pressure is released. Mix again and remove in a serving dish.

Enjoy this easy and quick pulao with yogurt.
