Homemade Besan Barfi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup besan (gramflour)

  • 1/2 cup chopped organic jaggery

  • 2 tbsp rawa (semolina)

  • 2 tbsp milk powder

  • 1/2 cup desi ghee

  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder

  • some chopped nuts (almonds & pistachio)

Method:

  1. In a heavy bottom vessel or kadai add the besan and ghee and roast on low flame stirring continuously so that it does not burn till it is golden in colour.

  2. Add the rawa to the besan and again cook on low flame for 2 minutes then add the milk powder and cardamon and cook only for a minute.

  3. Switch off the gas and only then add the chopped jaggery and mix well so that all the ingredients bind together.

  4. Take a tray or plate and grease it. Spread evenly the besan mixture on it and sprinkle some nuts all over. Press lightly with a spoon. Allow it to set for 15-20 minutes. Cut into big square pieces.

  5. It can be stored in an airtight container for almost a month.
