Homemade Basil Pesto Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
3 cups fresh sweet basil leaves ( taken homegrown )
1/2 cup pine seeds or walnuts
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
4 garlic pods
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp salt
Method:
Dry roast the pine seeds on a tawa or microwave just for 30 seconds.
Wash the basil leaves, dry pat and keep aside.
If the Parmesan cheese is in a slab form, grate it.
In a grinder or food processor add the pine seeds and garlic. Pulse it several times till it is coarse then add half the basil leaves, half parmesan cheese, pepper powder, salt and a little olive oil. Again pulse the mixture. With a spoon scrape it from all the sides and bring the mixture together then add the remaining basil, cheese and some more olive oil. Pulse again till a coarse mixture is formed.
Remove in a bowl, add the remaining olive oil and mix well.
Fresh Basil Pesto is ready.
Refrigerate in a glass bottle for future use.
This yummy pesto sauce can be used for Pasta, Pizza or sandwiches.
