Homemade Mangodi Ki Sabzi Recipe
Ingredients:
1 + 1/2 cup moong dal mangodi
2 big tomatoes chopped finely
2 green chillies chopped finely
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1-2 pinch asafoetida
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp jeera (cumin )powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
salt as per taste
chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
In a pan take 1 tbsp of ghee and roast the mangodi on low flame till slightly golden brown in colour.
In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp of ghee, add asafoetida and jeera when it splutters add the green chillies, ginger, turmeric powder and tomatoes. Cook till it becomes soft.
Then add all the remaining spices and salt leaving out the garam masala.
Mix well add the roasted mangodi along with 4-5 cups of water.
Close the cooker and cook on medium flame for 15 minutes or up to 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released open the cooker. Add the garam masala and water if requited. Again cook for 2-3 minutes.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve this yummy mangodi ki sabzi with chapatis.
Note: 1-2 chopped potatoes can also be added to the mangodi sabzi at step no 4.
