Homemade Butter Naan Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white flour ( maida)

  • ¼ cup curds (yogurt)

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp soda bi carbonate

  • salt as per taste

For Garnishing:

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped finely

  • 1-2 green chilies finely chopped

  • 1/2 tsp black til ( sesame seeds)

  • 1/2 tsp kalonji ( onion seeds /nigella seeds )

  • butter

Method

  1. In a bowl mix all the above ingredients . Make a medium soft dough by adding water little by little or as required . Keep it to rest for 2-3 hours in a warm place.

  2. Knead the dough once again and then make equal size balls of the dough. With a rolling pin roll one ball into a round or oval shape chapati of medium thickness. Sprinkle it with some chopped garlic , green chilies , coriander leaves, black til and kalonji and then roll it lightly again with the rolling pin so it does not come out.

  3. Turn the side of the naan roll it again lightly and then brush it with water all over and place it on a hot tawa.

  4. Cook on medium flame. When it is cooked turn the tawa upside down so that the naan can be cooked on the other side too. Once cooked on both sides remove from the tawa . Smear it with some butter .

  5. Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls.

  6. Serve hot with Labadar Paneer or Pindi Chole.
