Homemade Bread Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 11-12 slices white sandwich bread

  • 1 big potato

  • 1 big carrot

  • 1 cup french beans

  • 1 cup peas ( frozen)

  • 2 onions

  • 1 green pepper/ capsicum

  • 3-4 green chillies chopped finely

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 -2 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • salt as per taste

  • coriander leaves for garnishing

  • oil for frying

Method:

  1. Clean , peel wash and cut all the above vegetables into small cubes.

  2. Take a heavy based vessel heat 2-3 tbsp oil then add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the turmeric powder and the onions.

  3. Cook till the onions are soft then add the potatoes, carrots and beans.

  4. Cover and cook on low flame stirring at intervals till the vegetables are soft but crunchy.

  5. Add the peas, green pepper and green chillies along with all the dry spices and salt.

  6. Mix well and then with a spoon slightly mash it .

  7. Roll the vegetable mixture into small balls and keep aside.

  8. Cut the sides of all the bread.

  9. Take some water in a plate and dip one slice of bread in it. Quickly remove it and lightly squeeze the extra water from it.

  10. Place a ball of the vegetable mixture in the squeezed bread and fold all the sides together to form a round shape ball.

  11. Similarly do it for all the bread slices

  12. In a heavy based vessel or kadai heat some oil for frying.

  13. Deep fry all the dumplings in the oil till golden brown in colour

    Serve this crispy and delicious bread dumplings hot with green chutney or ketchup.
